Alex Sadeghi, SIA

One half of ASTROID, Alex is an architect and designer with rich international background and experience. His focuses are new technologies, computational design, and narrative as a driver in spatial concepts. More recently, he has gained expertise and recognition for his work and research into generative AI applied to architecture and urban participative methodologies.

He holds a scientific Master's Degree in Architecture from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) and is the recipient of the Orlando Lauti Award. He currently holds a research and teaching position at his alma mater, coordinating the Blue City Project Innosuisse flagship, and has also tutored at RAC Design Academy in Shanghai. He is a member of the Swiss Institute of Architects and Engineers (SIA).

Before ASTROID, Alex was Partner and Design Principal at Studiolite in Shanghai, leading the conceptual development of award-winning projects in China, Japan, Australia, India, and Switzerland. Previously, he gained experience at CetraRuddy Architecture D.P.C in New York City, MAD Architects in Beijing, and Lemanarc S.A. in Lausanne.

Alex is also an author and illustrator. Among his works relevant to ASTROID are Life on the Edge, a study of urban villages in periurban Beijing, and The Ultracity, a theoretical urban fable about the potential and challenges of technological development within the fields of architecture and urban planning.
